COMMUNITY LIBRARIES

They Took our Computers, But Not Our Future

On February 18th, 2025, we woke up to devastating news-our Nyarushanje Digital Community at Nyarushanje Community Library and Empowerment Center was broken into. 20 computers were stolen - computers that had become windows to the world for children, teachers and community members in underserved communities. For so many, these were more than just machines. They were dream builders, opportunity creators and a bridge to a future filled with possibility. The loss is heavy. But here is what they didn’t take:Our determination to keep pushing forward. Our commitment to empowering communities through digital literacy. Our vision for a world where no child is left behind in the digital revolution. Just days after this painful setback, we didn’t stop. We showed up. We kept teaching. We chose resilience. Because this mission is bigger than the stolen computers-it’s about changing lives.
